This is the area we use to set up our ‘anticipated’ expenses. Select the expense category and use the green (+) button to add a new expense item. Tip’ – the more detail and sub categories you use the better. Also, we select the period that most closely resembles when you actually incur these expenses e.g. groceries would be weekly but rates might be six monthly. When you are getting started the amounts will be your ‘best guess’ and you can adjust them once you start to collect some data of your ‘actual’ spending. Once you have set up a new budget item you will be able to select this item when you add an expense.
TIP: Most clients find that by choosing a handful of expenses to really focus on they have better overall success with reducing their spending. Choose five FAVOURITE expense items you would like to track on the DASHBOARD. For example, if your goal this quarter is to reduce your spending on “Clothing” you will click on the star for that item and then before buying groceries that month you can see how much you have spent for the month and make your purchase decisions based on how much money is left in that budget for the month.
